Hello Columbia colleagues! I just returned from an incredible trip to Australia, where I attended the University of Sydney’s Evidence-based Coaching conference. It was the 20th anniversary of the Coaching Psychology Unit (CPU)’s founding which, as you may know, was the world’s first program to offer a Coaching Psychology doctorate degree (Ph.D.) and master’s degree (M.Sc.). It is considered a “gold standard” for University-based coach education, and along with Columbia is one of the field’s brightest beacons. For two days, 400 participants came to the conference to hear a slate of world-class speakers. For readers who couldn’t make it, don’t worry -- below are my five key “take-aways” from the conference. Limiting myself to 5 take-aways was not easy, by the way. Evidence that it was a good conference? I think so (smile).
